Chicago Sun-Times Article – CTA to break ground on Red Line extension in early 2026 as prep work begins on Far South Side

Ensuring that the communities along the Red Line Extension are informed and engaged in the development of the Red Line Extension is a high priority for Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners. CTA hosted a series of “Meet the Contractors” meetings during Spring 2025 to introduce our team members to neighbors, where we could review project plans, timelines and station renderings, and answer questions from community members.  We appreciate reporting by Cindy Hernandez of the Chicago Sun-Times on one of the meetings, quoting WVTCP’s Rob Cheeseman who said, “It’s an honor to build this rail line and stations for you. It’s been quite a process to get here, and we are humbled to be a part of it.” Cheeseman is a senior project manager with Walsh Construction.
