The CTA Red Line Extension is a major infrastructure investment that will transform how Chicago's Far South Side connects to communities across the city.
Designed and built by Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners and SYSTRA/EXP, a team of four best-in-class companies selected by the Chicago Transit Authority, the project will expand transit access, improve mobility and strengthen connections for residents and businesses throughout the region.
Who are the companies behind the Red Line Extension?
Walsh-VINCI Transit Community Partners (WVTCP) and Systra/EXP Joint Venture (SEJV) have strategically assembled an experienced team of design-build rail transit and transportation infrastructure industry leaders. Walsh Construction and VINCI serve as the general contractors, while Systra and EXP serve as the lead designers and engineers for the Red Line Extension (RLE).
Together, WVTCP and SEJV are delivering the design and construction of the RLE. The team has a proven track record of successfully executing large, complex alternative-delivery infrastructure projects worldwide, including several North American rail design-builds and public-private partnerships.

Since founding their Chicago office, EXP has led major infrastructure and transit projects throughout the country, especially in the City of Chicago. Having worked on 25 CTA projects, EXP brings robust and long-standing CTA experience and relationships, innovative and community-centric station design, and local knowledge to the team.
